In addition to dental exams, 1st Family Dental of Fox Valley offers the full spectrum of tooth extraction services. There are many reasons that a tooth may need to be extracted, including crowding, tooth infection, and gum disease. No matter what the circumstance, the affected tooth or teeth can be extracted entirely in our office.
We also perform some types of wisdom tooth extractions. The team will work with you to determine whether your wisdom teeth can be removed in our office or whether you need to be referred to an oral surgeon.
Once the extraction is complete, our team will provide you with complete instructions on how to care for the affected area and schedule any follow up appointments that may be needed.
Gum disease treatment
Gum disease is a common dental problem that affects nearly half of all adults in the U.S. It takes two forms: gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is less serious, but can develop into periodontitis if left untreated. Eventually, gums can recede so much that teeth fall out.
The good news is that gum disease is highly treatable and 1st Family Dental of Fox Valley offers a wide range of treatments to address it.
The first course of action is a dental deep cleaning, which consists of removing plaque and tartar from teeth above and below the gumline. Our team does this through traditional scraping and sometimes with a laser.
Beyond deep cleanings, we can recommend medications and possibly surgical options depending on your needs. We’ll also evaluate lifestyle choices that may be able to help fight gum disease, such as quitting smoking or managing diabetes.
